Environmental health care, food control, environmental protection

Oulunkaari Environmental Services provides municipal environmental health care and veterinary care services to the municipalities of Ii, Utajärvi, Vaala and Puolanka, as well as to the city of Pudasjärvi. Environmental Services also provides environmental protection authority services to the municipalities of Ii, Utajärvi and Vaala, as well as to the city of Pudasjärvi.

Environmental health care is responsible for the region's food control, health protection (including schools, daycare centers, housing health issues, domestic water, and bathing water) and supervision under the Tobacco Act.

Environmental protectionThe authority's tasks include processing environmental permit applications, notifications and registrations under the Environmental Protection Act and monitoring the sites in question, as well as monitoring activities that cause noise and vibration. The authority's tasks include processing and monitoring soil permits under the Soil Materials Act. The authority also acts as the municipal environmental protection authority under the Waste Act.

The duties of the municipal environmental protection authority are laid down in the Act on the Administration of Environmental Protection in Municipalities, the Environmental Protection Act, the Waste Act, the Water Management Act, the Water Act, the Off-Road Traffic Act, the Soil Act, the Nature Conservation Act and the Water Traffic Act.
