Morning and afternoon activities

The municipality organizes morning and afternoon activities for students in grades 1–2 and for special education students who would have to be alone at home before the school day or after school work while their parents are at work or studying.

The aim of the activity is to

  • support home and school education
  • promotes the child's emotional development and ethical growth
  • increase well-being and equality
  • prevent exclusion and strengthen inclusion
  • offer a variety of supervised activities and rest in a safe environment

Locations

Opening hours: 7 am to 17 pm on school days (not during holidays or summer) 
Guardians are responsible for transportation costs.

Application period for the academic year 2025-26 ends on May 20, 2025.

  • Applications can also be submitted directly to the school at other times.

Customer fees

If the activity begins or ends in the middle of a calendar month, the fee is determined based on the average daily fee. The divisor is 20, which is the average number of weekdays in the month.

The fee includes activities, insurance, and breakfast and snacks.

Absences

  • Illness for more than 10 days/month: half of the monthly fee will be charged.

  • Illness for the entire month: no payment

  • Other absences for the entire month: half of the monthly fee will be charged

  • Other absences do not affect payments.

Billing

  • occurs monthly in arrears

  • Payment begins on the first day of participation and ends one month after termination.

10-day contract

  • valid for at least one semester at a time

  • one exceedance is allowed per academic year

  • Repeated overruns will convert the contract into a full month contract.

Fee exemption

Exemption can be applied for based on the family's financial situation. Exemption from payment may be granted if the family is covered by social assistance.

  • decisions are made for a fixed period, no more than one year of operation

  • exemption is not granted retroactively

  • changes in circumstances must be reported immediately

Termination

The termination must be made in writing and sent to the address educational services [at] ii.fi (cultural services[at]ii[dot]fi)
The termination will take effect at the beginning of the following month.

The activities are evaluated through an annual survey. 

School activities during the holidays (Thought)

Pohde is responsible for organizing special day activities during school holidays for basic education students who are clients of disability services. The activities are on weekdays during the autumn, Christmas, winter and summer holidays, not on individual school holidays.

Daytime activities can be granted based on work, studies or other justified reasons.
