Municipal initiative
A municipal initiative can be created and submitted online: kuntalaisaloite.fi
(The service requires identification with email or bank credentials, a certificate card or a mobile certificate in the Suomi.fi service)
Alternatively, a signed municipal initiative can be submitted by post to the Ii municipal registry office (P.O. Box 24, 91100 Ii or registry [at] ii.fi) or by bringing it to the municipal service point (Piisiltä 1, Ii).
All initiatives created on the kuntalaisaloite.fi online service are public. The service also allows you to support initiatives created by others (collect names).
Every municipal initiative is processed
Everyone, including those under the age of 18, has the right to take initiatives in matters concerning the municipality's operations. The right of initiative also applies to users of municipal services, such as associations and companies.
The initiative is processed by the institution or official in the area of responsibility, who will respond to the person submitting the initiative within 1 month at the latest, informing them of which institution the initiative will be processed, what the estimated processing time is, and who will provide additional information on the possible further processing of the initiative. The received initiatives are submitted in a consolidated form to the council, the mayor, and the director of administration.
