Student transportation
Free school transportation for students is provided using existing public transportation and chartered transportation offered by the municipality of Ii. Chartered transportation is intended only for schoolchildren entitled to school transportation.
The school travel benefit is only considered for the permanent place of residence registered in the population register. In other words, a student can only have one home address from which transportation to school is arranged.
School transportation is arranged without a separate application:
- For students in grades 0–1, if the shortest route to school in your area is 3 kilometers or more.
- For students in grades 2–9, if the shortest route to school in your area is 5 kilometers or more.
- For students whose school trip route includes dangerous section of road (School Chalk Method by age level).
- Transportation for special classes and groups is arranged on a case-by-case basis.
Transportation for preschoolers in early childhood education
Transportation to preschool is arranged free of charge if the one-way trip from the home address is 3 kilometers or moreand the child does not participate in supplementary early childhood education. If the child needs supplementary early childhood education in addition to preschool, the guardian is responsible for transportation.
Transition to secondary school
When a student applies to a secondary school, he or she will not be granted school transportation.
Temporary school transportation
Due to illness, accident, etc., students have the opportunity to receive temporary school transportation based on a medical certificate.
School transport applications
If, taking into account the student's age and other circumstances, the journey to school becomes too difficult, burdensome or dangerous for the student, school transport can be arranged upon application. The application must be accompanied by an expert's statement. Applications are processed on a case-by-case basis.
School transportation is being sought in Wilma.
