Home daycare

The municipality has several family daycare places and two group family daycare centers. Family daycare is guided, supervised and municipally maintained home-like care and early childhood education in a small group in the caregiver's home or the children's home. The family daycare center is responsible for the care and upbringing of children and for planning and implementing activities.

A family daycare provider may have four children under school age in full-time care at any one time, including the caregiver's own children under school age. In addition, the caregiver may have a preschool-age child in part-time care. When the family daycare provider is, for example, on annual leave or sick leave or in training, a back-up care place is arranged for the child. The back-up care place can be a daycare center, a group family daycare center or another family daycare provider.

In family daycare, learning takes place through joy and play, and children's learning and development are also supported in a goal-oriented manner in different everyday situations. Activities are structured around a regular daily rhythm, familiar routines and the annual calendar. Craft sessions, song and play and story times, as well as various physical activities are part of the weekly activities. Children are offered tasty and varied fresh home-cooked food at meals. A small group allows for an unhurried and peaceful mealtime as well as rest and nap time.

Shift care

Shift care is organized at Kotikuja and Kuivaniemi daycare centers.

Shift care refers to early childhood education that is offered in the evenings, at night and on weekends. The client fees for shift care are the same as for other early childhood education. Evening, night and weekend care are intended for children who need care outside of the general early childhood education hours (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) due to work or study.

The planning and implementation of the activities take into account the children's varying early childhood education times. The early childhood education times required by the child must be submitted electronically for three weeks at a time, after which there will be no commitment to future changes in early childhood education times.
