Strategy, rules and plans
Municipal Strategy 2035
According to the Local Government Act, a municipality must prepare or revise a municipal strategy at least once during the council's term of office.
On April 20, 2026, the municipal council approved Ii's new municipal strategy for 2035.
At the heart of Ii's municipal strategy, which extends to 2035, is the idea “about the Iilian way of doing things”, which means identifying the municipality's own strengths and utilizing a bold development approach so that Ii will be an even more attractive place to live, try, work and build communities in the future.
Four key themes have been defined for the strategy:
- Areas of good life
- From power lines to energy clusters
- The Bothnian Bay growth channel
- Well-being and tourism from the Bay of Bothnia to the wilderness
Eleven development programmes are being prepared to support the implementation of the municipal strategy. The objectives are defined as part of the annual budget preparation and monitoring is carried out in connection with the interim report and financial statements.
