Street and road maintenance
There are approximately 66 km of streets under municipal management and approximately 14 km of pedestrian paths. Approximately 90% of the streets are paved and have lighting.
The streets
The clearing of snow from the entrance to the plot is included to the owner of the connection, i.e. the resident and the same applies to keeping the connection drum open for stormwater (cleaning and thawing if necessary).
A regional contract for the maintenance of streets, parks, green areas and other public areas has started in the municipality of Ii on 1 October 2025. The main contractor is YIT Road Oy and the client is the Infrastructure and Environmental Services of the municipality of Ii. The contract period will last four years, until 30 September 2029.

The regional contract covers a wide range of areas maintained by the municipality:
- streets and pedestrian routes
- parks, green areas and playgrounds
- some of the outdoor sports facilities
- parking and green areas in port areas
- other public areas of the municipality

Road lighting
Road and street lighting will be turned off at night on weekdays at 22:30 and on weekends at 23:00. The lights on Kirkkotie and Paloasemantie will be turned off on weekends at 4:00. All lights will be turned on again on weekdays and weekends at 06:00 and will be turned off at dawn. The switch-off applies to all road and street lighting owned and controlled by the municipality of Ii. In spring, the lights will be turned off completely around mid-May and will be turned on in autumn before school starts.
Public roads
Destia Oy is the road manager of the public roads managed by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency. Report urgent road problems to the Road User Line, 24 hours a day, tel. 0200 2100 or electronically. traffic.palautevayla.fi. The Road User Line reports urgent problems that endanger traffic on state roads. Such acute issues include, for example, water on the road or a fallen tree that prevents normal road use. The Road User Line can also be called via the 112 Suomi application, in which case the caller's location information is transmitted with the call.
Winter road maintenance can be monitored in real time on the online service, which provides information, among other things, on which roads or light traffic routes managed by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency have been plowed, salted or sanded during the last hour or 24 hours.
